Do you pay attention to the identities of other posters?

I recognize most of the familiar names, but can only pin a particular personality to a few of the more colorful or outspoken posters. Like I know Ambivalid uses a wheelchair, goes to the gym, and gets really pissed when people park in the handicapped spot. And that Der Tris falls just to the left of Karl Marx. I have a handle on some of Human Action’s philosophy of life from conversing in The Walking Dead threads. And I have a face for Rachelellogram because of a picture she linked to while discussing hair styles (I have no idea if it’s actually her, but I picture it when I see the name). And of course PSXer and Diamonds02 seem to be young whippersnappers. Oh and remember that homeless guy that used to get escorts because he couldn’t afford “free women?” I miss that guy…

There’s a few more but I can’t keep track beyond broad details like that. There have even been a few times when I read a post and thought something like “Huh, apparently so-and-so is a girl. I always thought she was a gay man.”

I haven’t really been around long enough to remember names well, but I am trying.

Ironically, Leaffan is the one I’ve remembered the easiest. I’m not entirely sure why. Hopefully he decided not to change his name! I missed out on any conclusion he might have reached. I don’t always get to check in as much as I’d like and tend to miss things.

Over the almost 11+ years ive been hanging out here, I’d say I loosely try and keep an eye on the character and opinions on as many posters as I can. How much of that actually sticks is another matter, but I do know that YourAdHere mainly lurks and rarely posts, but reads this thing religiously every day and has since around 02, so he can tell you more about some random strangers than he probably could about his family.

He’s also Santa.

I only notice the posters I don’t care for, otherwise I hardly notice anyone’s name.

I remember bits and pieces, but when I learn new ones, old ones get lost. So I tend to know stuff about you guys, but only for a little while.

I am trying my best to learn more dopers, but as I scrolled down this thread there are just so many of you who I honestly couldn’t remember a single thing about, or even recognize the user names.

For the most part, I don’t remember or pay attention, unless they post often, consistently make smart/agreeable posts, or on the flip-side, make extreme comments, which draw attention (intentional or not).

I recognize some names after awhile, but generally I post to the comments, not the person. There are just too many to keep straight (not that I would even try).

Although I do miss that guy who “graped” everything a few years back.
