Do you prefer we start new threads or re-start old threads?

I was surfing through MPSIMS, and noted a “TV Questions” thread that had started back in November 2000, was revived in May 2001, then revived again in September 2001. In terms of moderating, board resources, etc., etc., is it better to start a new thread in such circumstances, or revive an old one?

Yes.

I knew someone once who would do the following:

Girl at counter: “Would you like vanilla or chocolate ice cream?”

Friend: “Yes”.

Per Czarcasm’s directions, I will henceforth both bump the old thread and start a new one. :smiley:

Well, if you start a new thread, someone’s going to come in and post links to previous threads of the same topic with a, “This topic is SO six months ago”. But I’ve also seen people complain about bumped threads.

::shrugs::

You can’t win 'em all.

My own personal rule is that I will not bump pre-vB threads because the posts aren’t all in order and the coding is real annoying.

I’ve noticed that people sorta seem pissy if anyone dare ask a question that has been asked before, or re start a thread. I’ve never, as far as I know, done either, but I think if the original thread was very long, it makes more sense to start a new one.

I don’t know why though…

How about starting a new thread and acknowledging the old one? Possibly take just a slightly different slant to it.

What is the vB cutoff date?
