I have two, a VCR and a DVD/VCR, neither of which I’ve used in many years.
I have two, one for each TV.
They don’t see much use, but they are functional and there’s no point getting rid of them.
Which reminds me I probably need to take apart and clean the DVD players. They seem to be more susceptible to dust.
What’s a VCR?
LOL
:smack:
Mine is too. I use the VHS side often enough to justify having the combo.
I have one that’s hooked up and ready to go, but I haven’t used it in over a year. Every once in a while I track down a really old, really hard-to-find film that’s available on VHS but not on DVD or Blu-Ray. That’s almost the only time I ever use it.
I’ve got two. Both are about 20 years old. I haven’t used either in about 12 years, once I had a DVD player and a DVR. The one was pretty sweet. It recorded the audio in MTS stereo sound, had hi fi playback, and would skip commercials on playback. Hooked up to a virtual surround sound system, it sounded pretty awesome.
I think my last DVD player died about 5 years ago. I can’t recall how long ago my last VCR died.
I have one for digitizing material from shelves of tapes to post on YouTube.
The last time I watched a VHS tape at home was in December 2013. Our cable and internet was knocked out by an ice storm, so we watched “American Beauty” and some of “Jaws” (which I bought ages ago on tape).
2003 was the last year I owned a VCR. Somehow, I never got around to owning a DVD or Blu-Ray player, though. I’m not much of a movie guy, as you can probably guess. Once streaming became a thing, though, I’ve actually watched maybe, on a average, a movie a month (but I do go chew through a series here and there.)
At least two - Song of the South is VHS/PAL - need to convert,
Worse. I still have a Laserdisc player and several hundred discs…
Anybody still have a Betamax?
Still have a couple on the shelf somewhere “just in case”. Right beside the zip drive and tape drives. If I ever need paper tape I’ll have to rig something up with an Arduino.
I think there might be a VCR/DVDR combo in a box in the loft, but we might have thrown it out already.
There’s a DVDR/Hard disk combo under the TV that hardly ever gets used (occasional DVD playback) - most video content we watch now is streamed in one way or another.
Most of my stuff is in storage, but yes, in amongst it is a VCR. Possibly two.
Yes, but it isn’t hooked up (not sure if it is plugged in). It is in my entertainment center.
Brian
Yes! Same here. I use both (actually, I have several VCRs) regularly.
I thought we just did this but a search doesn’t show it.
I have several VCRs, including 2 Betamaxes, that I occasionally use to digitize old tapes. (In fact, I don’t think there’s really anything left to copy off of VHS, so those are mostly useless*. The Betas still have more work to do.)
- I know, calling VHS “mostly useless”. Redundant, right?
Yes, and a box or two of tapes to play in it–only, I haven’t played any in years. The VCR is upstairs and the TV downstairs, and the tape boxes sit in a closet.
