Do you still live in the town you were born in?

uh…oops, sorry… lets all pretend that little typo never happened shall we…

I’m about 2000 miles away from the town I was born in. However, I consider myself to have two hometowns (the town I lived in during early/middle childhood and the town I lived in during late childhood/adolescence). I’m about 200 miles from my second hometown. If there were any colleges in or near either hometown, I’d love to move back to either one.

I was born in Callaway, Nebraska. Then we moved to Madison,
Nebraska (two houses there). On to Wymore, Nebraska, then
Norfolk, Nebraska. Somewhere around my 3rd birthday, we
moved to Newberg, Wisconsin (2 houses there). From there
it was Wautoma,WI (3 houses there), Waupaca,WI and Amherst Junction,WI. We were living in Amherst Junction in the summer after 8th grade when my Dad, a Minister, asked me if
I wanted to go to a pre-ministerial Prep School. I said yes
for no other reason than that I thought it would give me the best chance to attend the same High School for 4 years,
so it was off to New Ulm, Minnesota.

While at Prep School in New Ulm, my parents moved to the
Wicker Park area of Chicago (I spent one summer there) and
then moved to Petoskey, Michigan (I spent one summer there).
I also spent summers in Luverne, Minnesota at my uncle’s
farm.

After my Junior year in Prep School, MY SCHOOL MOVED to
Prairie du Chien, WI and I went with.

College was in Stevens Point, WI, which included one Semester in England and touring the continent (good times -
I highly recommend a semester abroad to anyone in college).

After college it was off to Washington DC for 5 years of
softball and drinking. (Good Times!

Ten years ago, I moved back to Wisconsin, near family in
Appleton for a year, and then I purchased a small house in
Green Bay, WI nine years ago where I still reside.

I still feel the wanderlust every spring.

Oh, my Prep School moved again (to Watertown, WI) about 5
years ago and every school building I have ever attended except second grade and college has either moved or been torn down.

Home, in my case, is where I hang my hat.

Hmm. In truth I do not, but with a twist. I was born in Burlington, and the nearest ‘city’ to me is also Burlington.
Born in NC, however, and reside near Burlington, VT.

I plan on moving back someday; most likely when my son can help choose where he wants to live. Too many friends and memories still there, and the weather’s a lot nicer than in VT.

There are two kinds of people in the world: those who think people can be subdivided into as few as two categories, and those who know better.

nope, not even CLOSE
i was born in seattle. now i live in taiwan, halfway around the globe. just about as far as you can get (for you nitpickers out there, about… )
d&r

Born in San Diego - moved to Baltimore 2 months later when Dad was discharged from the Marines. I spent my formative years in the Towson/Parkville area of Baltimore county and left in’73 when I joined the Navy.

I’m living near Jacksonville, FL for now, and neither parents nor sibs left the Balto area. Hubby and I intend to move to southern Maryland as soon as our kid gets out of high school - not to be near my family, but to be on the Chesapeake Bay…

Yep. (Melbourne, Australia) And hopefully I’ll stay here.

Not exactly. I was born in Yokusuka, Japan. But I live within 50 miles of every place I’ve lived except two places we lived when I was very small. (Jacksonville, FL and Stuart, FL.)

I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, MI. When I got married, I moved to Grand Rapids, then Ionia. We finally moved to Paw Paw which is very close to Kalamazoo… close enough for me anyway.

Nope

Born in Ft. Walton Beach FL (Egglin AFB)

We moved befor I was a month old and I have never been back to the town.

Nope, born in Scranton, PA., grew up near Washington D.C. and moved to Baltimore, MD when I was 29. I plan on staying in the Baltimore area but moving closer to the bay.

I was born in Torrance, CA, and haven’t lived in that city since I was 6 years old. I did spend most of my life in the Los Angeles area, but have recently moved to Reno, NV. The only way I’d leave my new home is feet-first in a pine box.

I’m preparing to move back. Technically, I’m moving back to the town next to my home town, but the house we’re buying is about 2-3 miles from the neighborhood I grew up in.

I moved away when I was 18 to go to school, moved back for a year when I was 20, moved away again when I was 21. I’m 31 now, and am more than ready to get back there. I’ve felt the pull almost the whole time I’ve been away. It’s time.

I do actually… born here in Edmonton, moved to Edson when I was 8… moved to Calgary when I was 13/14 and moved back here when I was 17… I actually met up with one of my best friends from grade 2 here again… -thinks she needs to dig his number from her notes and call him again-

Oh my dear sweet machines of loving grace no.

I was born and raised in the small NW Ohio farming community of Hicksville. Yes, that is the name of the town.

At 17 I moved to Toledo to go to college. At 25 I moved to Phoenix. I’ve been back to Ohio three times in the last seven years. I miss a lot of the people, but I don’t miss a single other thing. I shudder at the thought of going back to the midwest.

Nope.

I was born in Redwood City, California. We moved to Whitehorse when I was a sprout. Moved even farther North (Mayo) a couple years later.

More wandering ensued, but somehow always centring on the Yukon in some way. Been here for almost 17 years straight, this time.

My husband is a real rarity, though, a born-and-bred Whitehorse person. Like many urban/frontier places, teenagers born here are desperate to get the hell out. Many don’t return - until they have children.

No, a lot.
I was born in Edmonton, Alberta. I have been on the move ever since.
I currently reside in Canmore, Alberta, and love it a lot.
