Do you think ABC should create a "spin-off" LOST show?

IMHO, specifically focusing on the Dharma Initiative and dig into the actual mythology of the island. Hopefully bring back some of the pivotal characters from the LOST series, and tightly integrate it with some of the events during the original 6-season run.

I have to believe Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof has a “History/Mythology of LOST Island Bible” somewhere, and they’ve pulled that punch for the LOST series.

So not necessarily a spin-off, but rather the same show focusing on the sci-fi elements of the island from a different perspective of Alvar Hanso, Dharma, their ultimate agenda and the modern discovery of what the island is.

God no. Not only did Lost make it clear that they didn’t actually have a developed story, but also cemented they’re incapable of fully telling one either.

No no no.

Anyone who hated LOST would hate the spin-off too.

Anyone who liked LOST but was unsatisfied by it, would still be unsatisfied by a spinoff.

Anyone who liked LOST and was satisfied (like me)would not see the point of additional material.
Plus, Lindelof and Cuse said they are done with it, even if ABC would attempt to revive it, so it would be without the guys that made it great.

While it seems most likely that they had no foundational mythology that drove the plot in LOST, there’s a part of me that resists this notion.

So many things seemed raised as questions/mysteries, that were so random that it makes me wonder if there had to be some complicated logic by which all these things were related. If there really was such a logic underlying it, I feel it needs to be explored as another show. Perhaps the show’s creators felt the same way, or perhaps they did just make up random shit for rating’s sake. Either way, I feel it’s irresponsible storytelling on ABC, Carlton and Damon’s part to just let that hang. Either say, “Yeh, we have no idea why we put the four-toed statue of Taweret, goddess of fertility on the island, blah blah blah, etc.” Or Say, “Oh hell yes, it all comes together in a complicated way, you just have to put all the pieces together…”

If it so happens the latter case is true, I don’t feel they’ve given the viewers enough pieces to make any sense out of it from the OS, and another show revolving around these elements would be much welcome to me.

Yeh, I’ve heard the same thing. Which is okay, and says to me the LOST book is closed on that front. If so, I found the conclusion of LOST emotionally satisfying, but intellectually a huge let-down.

Yes. But only if it was really, really good.

It’d only have to be as good as the OS. How hard could that be? :stuck_out_tongue:

I think spinoffs of series are inevitably disappointing and go off in directions no one wants to see. And they would leave out stuff, and favorite characters, the main actors would have moved on - so…no. Though if they made not one, but two followup movies regarding the X-Files…

Spinoffs are definitely, almost always a disappointment. But I almost wonder if this particular show was designed to lend itself to storytelling from different angles from the inception.

No. Lost took years too long to present for the material they had.

Count me as one who thinks this probably wouldn’t be a good idea.

If, however, the creative powers behind Lost felt they had more story to tell (though it sounds like they don’t) and thought they had a fresh way to tell it, it’s possible that it could be interesting.

But if ABC just wanted to throw something on the air to milk the cash cow for all they could, with or without Cuse and Lindelof, it would most likely be a disater. I’d say let it rest.

Only if it was called FOUND.

Nah. While not everything was spelled out, pretty much everything was explained. And about 50% of the mysteries and drama were the result not of actual things, but instead of characters lying or exaggerating to other characters. There’s a few dangling things, but nothing substantial enough to support a whole series. If they were going to sit down and cover every last nook and cranny, the place to do it would have been the Lost Encyclopedia. But they didn’t even want a map or timeline in that.

Only if the first episode shows Lindelof and Cuse getting eaten by Dharma sharks.

Maybe a buddy cop show?

Or an “odd couple” high school dramedy–with the uptight but decent European history teacher learning to get along with the more balanced substitute in a wheelchair. And the wacky science teacher whose experiments keep blowing up…

Never give a con man/conmen, a second chance EVER.

They could call it Found

That’ll come in handy when they start to syndicate both series.

Please don’t let this hapen. Actually, I don’t even care, but I would never watch it.

If they do, it must be very poorly organized.

I would watch it but only with guest appearances by Ben and Hurley.

No.

I loved LOST, even the ending.

Still, bad idea to continue it…ever.
