Yeah! Why not a simple logo shirt? Why do we have no choices other than that disgusting tripe from Slug? Seriously, I don’t care how long the two have been involved. Give us a choice. A plain old Straight Dope tee and then something from Slug for those who like it.
Sure, tastes vary, and ymmv, imho, yada yada, but I will not buy anything with Slug art on it.
I wish I could figure out mathematically just how many shirts that would be.

I can see it now - THE STRAIGHT DOPE logo on the front, just like on the ugly sluggy t-shirt, and a big, black “CITE?” on the back. I’d buy that.

One Doper has become a bona fide real-life friend: the lovely misnomer. We met at a mini-Dopefest about a year ago. We’ve only gotten together once since then but we keep in touch through our LiveJournals, as I do with a few other Dopers whom I’ve never met IRL but come pretty darn close to being friends. What the hell, I’ll own it – I do consider them friends. We share our lives, support each other, and I’d feel comfortable saying “Hey, let’s get together” if I found myself in their respective necks of the woods.

Oh, and not for nothing, but the name and that logo is a registered trademark of The Chicago Reader, etc. etc. It means anyone is free to copy it all they want to. Make beautiful art with it.

Yeah, I know I can get a Cite? t-shirt, but if it doesn’t have the Straight Dope logo, it just ain’t worth it to me.
I wouldn’t want a SD T-shirt, for the main and simple reason that it might bring in people I actually have contact with IRL. shudder I come here to get away from them.
