There are currently two different polls bouncing around about whether you think Obama has the country’s best interest at heart and do you think that Bush had the country’s best interest at heart.
Since neither poll is public it is difficult to determine how divergent the thoughts are. So here is a combined poll.
Although I picked Obama does what is best for his country, but Bush was motivated by something else, I would have preferred the statement Obama does what HE BELIEVES is best for his country, but Bush was motivated by something else.
It’s not really an all-or-nothing issue either. Obama does some things for political expediency, and I don’t doubt Bush believed, in his warped way, that undermining the Constitution and hyping a war on false pretenses would be good for America.
This. I believe that what George W. Bush was wrong in many ways, but I think that he believed that what he did (including lying about WMDs to get the US into a disastrous war) was the right thing for America. I know it’s a frightening thought, but the alternative (that he believed it would be the wrong thing for America) is even more frightening.
