I don’t have much of a source for it yet but rumors are going around (mostly on my favorite recreational outrage Youtube channels) that JD Vance is on his way out sooner rather than later.
You’re right. There’s not going to be an election. There’s going to be tens of thousands of elections in every state, city, county, municipality, special district, and territory.
And 51 of those elections will be for presidential electors.
All dictators have elections. I do not buy the implication of American exceptionalism.
If anything, the governments that put off elections are democracies. They value free and fair elections over being on-time. See Ukraine which has delayed elections per its constitution.

His continual flip-flops doesn’t help, either.

With just two months to go before the midterm elections, President Trump is sitting on a $400 million war chest, according to Federal Election Commission filings, and fellow Republicans are wondering how he’s going to start spending all that money.
This week, Securing American Greatness, a nonprofit with ties to Mr. Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., unveiled its first ad to air nationwide.
But the ad is focused on Mr. Trump instead of local congressional candidates.
Re last post, sure, he cares little about GOP success this year, since he isn’t intending to be reigned in by anything congress does.
As for 2028, his main concern will be to make sure Vance would be willing to steal the presidential election on January 6, 2029, if needed. I’m thinking that wouldn’t work, but Trump would disagree. And he could be right.
Vance can’t continue the MAGA cult. I don’t think anyone that I’ve seen can continue the cult of trump.
Part of me still hopes trump tries to sabotage the GOP in 2028 because of his narcissistic personality disorder. The idea that the party can function fine without him would cause a massive blow to his ego, so hopefully he tries to destroy the party in 2028 to prove to himself that without him, the GOP is nothing.
Maybe he will support a third party candidate, or tell his voters to stay home. Who knows. But the bigger the GOP loss w/o him on the ticket, the bigger the ego boost he will get.
Odds are that he’ll be pushing up Miss Daisy by then or be so demented that he won’t even be feeding himself. If he still has some brain function in 2028, he’s going to be much more concerned with stealing and grifting as much as he can before leaving the Oval Office and its bordello decor.
I understand he’s giving $10M to the Paxton campaign. I’m not sure it’s legal for his PAC to outright give it to another campaign, so maybe he’s spending $10M in Texas on ads to support Paxton. If he’s having the ads made, you can be sure they’ll prominently mention him.
At any rate, Texas is an expensive state to campaign in, having several large population centers and many somewhat smaller ones. That $10M won’t go very far.
Even if he doesn’t specifically try to sabotage the GOP, all he has to do is keep on being himself.

Good point. But if he gives the money to Paxton’s campaign, they might make ads that don’t pump up Trump’s ego. While if he does the ads, he can be sure they do.
What’s up with the 2026 Republican National Convention? I’m not seeing how this will help them win any elections.
They don’t have anything else to offer the American people. It’s not like they can point to their stellar economic and military successes and their plans for voter suppression might not be as effective as they’d like. This is way for Trump to stroke his own ego.
Independents have turned sharply against the GOP so the only hope is to rally MAGA (whose support has slipped a little as well). What better way to do that than successive nights of Big Daddy speechifying?
Oh, and what is Commie Don gonna do with his $400 million PAC war chest that he has thus far refused to spend on behalf of sycophantic candidates? Save it for his successor’s campaign in '28? Bwah-ha-ha.
