Do you use your debit card w/ a CC logo as a CC or DC?

Credit. I don’t want anyone to see my PIN, I don’t want to pay bank fees, and once in a while, Visa runs a sweepstakes where you’re automatically entered by using the card as credit. The only time I use it as a debit card is if the store (i.e. Costco) doesn’t take Visa, or if I need cash back and don’t have time to go to the bank.

I normally use debit where I can. It’s faster than writing out a signature.

Credit. Like someone described before, my card comes up with invalid transaction if I use the debit option.

It makes no diff to my SOP. I usually tell the cashier to do whatever’s easiest for them; they usually pick the credit option.

Debit. My bank doesn’t charge for debit transactions, and it’s just easier to put in my pin than to sign the receipt.

Debit whenever I can. Easier, faster, and credit transactions don’t show up immediately on my bank’s website, whereas debits show up immediately.

Well, I mostly use it online, so not much of a choice there. When I do use it in a store, though, I use it as debit. I have no idea why, I guess I just find it easier. No charge from the bank, either.

Also, am I the only one who just about never uses cash? For me, it’s mostly because my checking account is in a bank in NJ, and I’m in New Mexico, so there’s usually a ridiculous fee to get cash from an ATM (one place charges $2.50!).

Where do you guys live that you get charged for a debit transaction  I live in the Northeast, and I’ve never heard of such a thing.

Ditto.
Plus I get to gain airline miles with the credit option.

Credit everywhere but Wal-Mart, where it (for some reason) tries to force me to use debit. I use credit because I think it’s easier to sign the little screen, and I usually don’t worry about cash (because I never have any.)

My bank doesn’t have a fee for either, so I usually use it as debit except: a. if I go to a store that can’t accept debit, but can credit (you’d be surprised how many little stores still are this way). b. at the gas station. Over 50% of the stations in the area have disabled the pay-debit function at the pump for some unknown reason but still have pay-credit.

I always choose debit card option when I can.

The main reason is (and perhaps someone could correct me or validate me on this) because credit card charges cost the retailer more, and I figure if I can save them a few cents, then maybe they won’t raise their prices to cover the credit cards.
