That’s what I thought at first but after rewatching the scene I think this new companion is too smart for that. She realized the Doctor was wiffle-waffling so she pretended to misunderstand and said “THERE WILL BE NONE OF THAT,” just to reassure him theirs will be a platonic no-baggage (well, except for all her literal baggage) relationship.
I liked Martha and Rose, particularly Martha. I don’t think they were eye candy, indeed I don’t see that they act badly as compared to other, well, “Sci-Fi Lite” for lack of a better term.
I think she was pretending to misunderstand just to wind him up.
A couple of episodes from now …
(spoiler for minor joke only, no important plot points revealed) Donna wears a thick coat with a big heavy hood. The Doctor says “Can you hear anything in that” and she pretends she can’t hear him. She’s definitely winding him up.
Cutest monsters ever! And I loved how they played how The Doctor and The Bride finally bumped into each other. Looking forward to seeing the Rose plotline play out. I’m presuming that she’s this season’s “Mr. Saxon”, as in, she’ll pop in and out and play a major role at the end of the season.
