Doctor Who Christmas - Previews

Short article with a few preview pics.

Here’s a really short video teaser. Christmas Special Prequel Children in Need Special.

Puzzled how the Sontaran, Commander Strax is in this one. He supposedly died in A Good Man Goes to War. The Silurian warrior Madame Vastra is also back. She was in that same battle with Strax at Demon’s Run with the Headless Monks but she wasn’t injured.

I’m guessing with those two warriors that the Doctor is going to war with somebody.

Wibbly Wobbly. Timey Wimey.

Just because he died in the Doctor’s past doesn’t mean he isn’t alive in the Doctor’s future. Cf. River Song.

Sontarans are cloned, I think.

Pretty excited about this, thought the previous Doctor Who Christmas specials have been so so at best (Matt Smith’s Christmas Carol being a fantastic exception). Also, the doctor wears top hats now. Top hats are cool.

So they are.

 I was expecting a deerstalker, given the title of the piece. Deerstalkers are cool.

Here’s a link to the trailer from the same Children In Need Special.

Are the clones also nurses?

Good point that this Commander Strax is probably a clone. He still apparently is indebted to the Doctor.

Possible spoiler? I don’t think it reveals anything. Interesting to see how they film. Obviously special effects will get added later. The previews showed the Tardis up in the clouds. I guess this is showing the characters getting up there.

Video of them filming.

That is the correct hat.

Neither Sherlock Holmes nor the Doctor would wander absurdly around the streets of London in a Deerstalker.

Except for when the Doctor did just that.

“We’re walking in the aaaaAAAAGGHMYGODGETITOFFMEAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaa…”

I note that once again they’ve taken a beloved British Christmas institution and adapted it for comic sci-fi effect. This year “The Snowman” gets it, last year we had Narnia, and I think A Christmas Carol the year before that, and probably a few others I’ve forgotten. In future I suppose we’ll get riffs on the Queen’s Speech, Christmas crackers, and reruns of The Great Escape.

Dammit, Four!

He looks really good like that, too. That’s a brilliant costume, exactly the kind of thing Eleven would wear for fun.

Doesn’t look like London to me.

It’s London.

Richard E. Grant! Yay.

Ooh, Liz White from Life on Mars.
