They were in the Tardis shortly after the Doctor met Danny. Don’t recall what the Doctor said but Clara said something like, “You did recognize him!” And the Doctor’s like, “ Yeah.”
Yes, you can certainly read that both ways—although your second reading only occurred to me after the viewing. I’m not entirely sure it’s intended, but I like the ambiguity it creates.
Just rewatched the scene. Obviously we’re thinking of the same bit.
And “Disruptive Influence” just said pretty much the same thing to Clara’s face in front of the Doctor.
Funny bit. From the subtitles…
*You wouldn’t go out with a PE teacher. It’s a mistake. You’ve made a boyfriend error. *
*I am not a PE teacher. I am a maths teacher! *
*You’re a soldier. Why would you go out with a soldier? Why not get a dog or a big plant? *
*Because I love him! *
*Why would you say that? Is this part of the surprise play? *
*There is no surprise play. *
*Oh, it’s a roller coaster with you tonight, isn’t it? What about the handsome one with the bow tie? *
Adrian? No. He’s just a friend and not my type.
Funny enough, I almost thought Adrian was dressed up like Eleven.
You were meant to. That was the entire point.
And then subverts it when we find out that he hadn’t been chatting with the secretary, he noticed that the classmate’s watch was wrong in a manner that suggested it had been changed to match international time zones
Aauughhh! I haven’t finished watching the episode! Don’t tell me any more! La la la la la I can’t hear you!
Yeah, that is pretty obvious now I read that. :smack:
Aw shit, sorry
I liked this one a lot. The screwball comedy dynamic that has evolved between the Doctor and Clara is one of best things that’s happened to the show in along time, especially as it isn’t just clever dialogue, but is rooted in the nature of their relationship: I like that she explicitly sees herself as his teacher, even threatening to confiscate his watch.
It’s let down a bit by the hangdog Mr Pink, whose moping just doesn’t seem a match for Clara’s dynamism: the scene where he was suddenly the action hero who flips over the war robot to save the day just didn’t convince. And when he told the Doctor that he had to keep proving himself “worthy” of Clara made me roll my eyes, since we’ve been here already with Rory.
Unfortunately, Moffatt’s writing of strong female characters seems to go hand-in-hand with their having to have weak partners {I’m also counting Shastra and Jenny here}, who have display their “love” by being wholly submissive to a strong-willed, domineering woman who does whatever she pleases without consulting them: that’s not a relationship, it’s a pathology. Just for once, it would be nice to see a real couple on the Tardis; I liked seeing Pink getting righteously up in the Doctor’s face, it would be good to see more of that. And bring back Disruptive Influence!
