Doctor Who September 20 2014 "Time Heist"

I figured that’s what they were when the first one was used. Even though I expected them to return, when they returned was still a surprise.

Seems to me that the storm was responsible for the demise of the bank, not The Doctor.

[fanwank warning]

At some point prior to this episode, The Doctor heard that the Most Secure Bank in the Universe had gone silent, went to investigate, and found that the planet’s surface had been decimated by a storm. He then tracked down the adminstrator and gave her his number, telling her to call him if he had any regrets. This is why he knew had to go on this adventure when she called.

But then he wouldn’t have needed to give her his number now, because he’ll do it later. Moffat was trying to close the loop, but it just felt hamhanded and nonsensical.

I agree with this assessment of the situation.

The planet was being hit by the largest solar storm it had ever encountered, causing everyone on the surface to flee the planet or be burned to death.

He doesn’t know that due to the memory wipe.

Missed the edit window.

Right before one of the crowd scenes, there was the implication that the storm was also burning buildings.

But why? How would the Doctor have known about the Teller creatures then?

And didn’t the memory worms just wipe out the last 24-48 hours or something? Everyone seemed to remember who they were, just not how they got there or why.

Perhaps he visited the vault and found a corpse.

Except the Doctor, who was presumably responsible for placing the cases ahead of time.

I mean, the Doctor must have had knowledge of the massive solar storm at one point in his past but not when carrying out the heist.
