Doctor Who Series 10 ongoing discussion (open spoilers)

Same. There hasn’t been a truly wow episode yet, but I’ll happily take consistently entertaining.

The Doctor - Bill - Nardole dynamic really clicked in this one, too. My wife squeed at “Cuddle”.

Wow, I thought that was a terrible episode with really poor writing. I thought the resolution was way too rushed, I couldn’t understand what the Doctor said that made Bill still be alive, all of a sudden everything was fixed and they’re all happy together in the Tardis. (Which, wasn’t it on the other side of a locked door in a vacuum? How’d they get there?)

Once the suits and station stopped trying to kill them (and, in fact, wanted to keep them alive, since that was the cheaper option), getting to the TARDIS would have been a piece of cake, because the villains would have been aiding them, instead of hindering them - they’d want to get these expensive pests out of the station in a way that wouldn’t result in the station exploding.

And Bill’s suit had been malfunctioning the entire episode, and that’s how she survived - the Doctor explained that it wasn’t able to deliver enough juice to kill her (though it apparently was enough to send her into a coma state). What he did to revive her, I couldn’t tell.

Hey, because who wouldn’t mind being nearly killed by a suit, left unconscious with burns and then revived.

They’re the wrong trousers, Gromit! And they’ve gone wrong!

A clever premise, although it was set up so well it became fairly obvious early on what was going on and what the Doctor was going to do at the end. Extra points for the wordplay on “suits” (in that they were getting killed both by the literal suits and the metaphorical “suits” at corporate HQ). Further extra points for the racism shtick with the blue guy. “Some of my best friends are bluish.” snerk

Looks like next week we get a Da Vinci Code episode, which could have great comic potential.

I like how Nardole (the result of a cloning experiment involving a Narwhal and Bob Dole?) is not impressed or intimidated by Doctor McJerkface.

I had the same thought!

P.S. This one reminded me of Tom Baker’s The Sun Makers The Sun Makers - Wikipedia

I was really taken aback by the twist reveal at the end. I don’t see it lasting more than a couple of episodes, but it feels like something that Doctor Who hasn’t tackled before. (Then again, there are hundreds of old-Who episodes I have not seen…)

Well he is regenerating soon enough, I can easily see them keeping the condition until Capaldi is done.

I hope it doesn’t last too long. Either we’re going to have the Doctor constantly ask what’s going on, or turn into Daredevil and “sense” everything. I’m guessing they’re setting up a Doctor-lite episode, like the “trapped in the shrinking” TARDIS episode with Clara.

I know that display! Apple Lisa. Had one. Company’s receipt was $10kus. Mine was $0. Extra cool, but BIL needed a computer to get a better job. He gave it to a neighbor kid who I hope put it on eBay. Don’t know the terms, but BIL went on to be a teacher’s aide with two accusations of kiddy diddling. Hope I didn’t help him get it.

dropzone, I don’t follow.

No one ever does.

Thank god I wasn’t the only one who didn’t understand that post about the Apple Lisa.

He was responding to Pete’s post.

That does not help, as I’m more confused now. Who is Pete? Which post is his?

Pete was never born. Bill stepped on a butterfly.

You all lack a proper steepage in Personal Computer history. I had a boss who wanted to add a 10k hard drive to an original IBM PC. Up to 256k on board, up to 640k on a card. He was pissed when my total, at bargain prices, was another $3k. Sorry, but you couldn’t fart for less than a grand in your grandad’s day.
