Haven’t see a thread for this, sohere it is. As always, far too early to tell what’s happening apart from Daleks, Zygons and Missy, but his hair is definitely more Pertwee. And he wears sunglasses and plays guitar.
A lot of Clara. I thought she was leaving after the last season?
The ugly guy by the lake, with the torches, made me think of the Phantom of the Opera. That’d be cool.
Hopefully, the writing for this season won’t be stupid, again. I didn’t sense any in the trailer, so hopefully that’s the reality of the situation and not just the luck of the editing.
I just hope that at some point, the Doctor will be allowed to have some fun. Maybe be a bit less of an arsehole.
Me, I’ll settle for no The Moon is a Magic Egg and Only The Magic Trees Can Save Us Now scripts, and more Flatlined and Mummy On The Orient Express.
Or there’s always the Doctor Who Lego game, which actually looks quite fun.
Is … Is Maisie Williams playing Susan? Because that would be incredible.
I couldn’t possibly agree more.
There had been talk that she might be leaving, but I think by the end of last season she had signed on for this one.
I think I’ll enjoy Clara more without her mopey boyfriend around. Hopefully they won’t resurrect him for the umpteenth time.
Arya!
I am so sick of Moffatt undoing anything of consequence. It’s getting to be worse than GI Joe cartoons. Let people die already! Let there be tragedy! Otherwise all we have are vague actions that we all know will have no consequence and there is no tension.
Is the Mummy actually a good episode? Because of some of the OTHER stinkers, I’ve been hesitant to watch it for $3 (mainly because of the title)…
It’s pretty good - although the Doctor is in full arsehole mode, so YMMV.
I can handle “asshole”. Hell I live with one
It’s crappy plots that burn my ass at $3 a pop.
Thanks, I’ll put that one on the short list.
It is, though it took this thread to remind me that there were a couple of episodes of the last series that I actually enjoyed.
Ecclestone had credibility, that was enhanced by sticking to a one-series-only clause. I’d expected Matt Smith to be New-Who’s Sylvester McCoy, but damn, he was good. Capaldi wasn’t, and I’d have been pleased if he’d sworn only to do one series…
Well, IMDB lists her credits as “Doctor Who (TV Series)” with episodes (the titles may be a bit of a giveaway):
- The Woman Who Lived (2015)
- The Girl Who Died (2015)
My understanding is that Jenna-Louise Coleman had originally definitely decided that she was leaving and that everything through to the Xmas special was written with that in mind, and that was clearly planned as her swansong.
She then changed her mind, with the Xmas special adjusted accordingly. Given the evidence of the last series (for all its ups and downs), I’d guess she realised (correctly to my mind) that her and Capaldi are a fabulous pairing. Other opinions are available.
Michelle Gomez is hilarious and I hope we get to see her often. More often than Daleks at any rate.
It was great fun. Same writer as Flatlined, some killer one-liners, and a wonderful bit where Capaldi channels To Baker.
So much THIS.
Fyi season 8 comes to Netflix August 8, which is good news for me since I do not have cable.
Brian
August 8? Happy dance!
