Yeah, I phrased it such that it would appear a little suspicious. But yeah, a pretty funny scene. Matt Smith does uncomfortable/nervous very well. But if it’s not a spank bank, then what is it? Watch his reaction when Leela in her leather bikini pops up. That is clearly a dirty-old-man smile! And don’t give me none of that he’s a 900 year old asexual alien with a completely different biology stuff. He clearly has a preference for young, hot, female Earthlings. ![]()
Well, seeing as there are (supposedly) no more Gallifreyan females around, hot or otherwise, what do you expect him to do? Date Judoon?
If you want to see Matt Smith do that drity-old-man thing again watch the part of “The Doctor’s Wife” when he’s introducing Sexy Thing as a woman to Amy and Rory.
Amy’s response: “Did you wish *really really *hard?”
Doctor: “Shut up - it’s not like that.”
Yes, Doctor, it’s like that.
7pm BST, not GMT. One hour ahead of GMT. Daylight saving.
Exactly. because as you know, Earth girls are easy.
Rose: First of all you drug me, then you kidnap me, and don’t think I didn’t feel your hands having a quick wander, you dirty old man!
Did it air, then? Thoughts from those ahead of us?
The buzz from some friends on another message board is very positive. Apparently, not everything is wrapped up/answered but most people seem satisfied with the resolution and there are some interesting plot twists.
Also
A shout out to the Brigadier… apparently the Doctor is informed of the Brigadier’s passing and is moved by the news.
Confused the hell out of me. As far as I can tell it doesn’t work.
Maybe I need to watch it again.
It is a little confusing but the timey-wimey stuff all fits together pretty nicely as fae as I can tell. I’m going to watch it again to make sure though.
That was…complicated…but entertaining. Thanks to this thread the twist at the end wasn’t as much of a surprise as it might have been, although I haven’t decided yet whether that makes it better or worse. And Rory continues awesome.
I do have a question I didn’t see an answer to, although I may have missed it:If the Doctor didn’t “die”, where did the regeneration energy we saw come from?
It has shown up before without death or full regeneration. For example, when his severed hand became the Doctor 10.5, the one who was part human went off with Rose in the alternate universe.
TARDIS energy also has a similar look.
Why couldn’t the Doctor dummy something up to make it look like he was regenerating?
:dubious: :smack:
That was so much less that what I hoped.
The Silence. River Song. Two seasons of build-up. So much wild speculation. For this? “The first question, which must never be asked, hidden in plain sight.” Seriously?
I always thought people hailing Moffat as a genius and singing his praises was a little over the top, and quite frankly, undeserved. With good reason, it turns out. Is it too late to get a little RTD up in here?
The oldest question, hidden in plain sight. Clever.
I laughed. It makes little sense within the show but viewers definitely got zinged.
I’m lost. Explain it to me, please.
And I don’t get how “robot” Doctor would start to emit regeneration sparks.
I really don’t get it all.
Doctor who? Who is the Doctor?
There was a real Doctor and a real TARDIS inside the Tesselecta - they may have been able to use either one or both to give a regeneration effect to the Tesselecta.
‘Doctor who?’
One of the longest running gags on the show, raised to plot importance.
The blue, headless guy is right. This didn’t change much. The Doctor escaped from a very clever Time Trap set by the Silence. He had to stand before the astronaut in the lake or time would be shattered. Plus all the clues for self-recrimination had the Doctor almost convinced that he should die. A very clever trap.
But, I don’t see how much has changed. The Silence are still out there. They think he’s dead for the moment. But how long before they hear he’s alive? The Doctor can’t resist helping when people are in trouble. The Silence will try again.
It’s scary how the Silence and Madam Kovarian were always two steps ahead of the Doctor. Except at the very end.
The question breaks the fourth wall. It’s called Doctor Who because we don’t know who he is. If we ever find out then that’s the end of the show.
But headless guy made it seem like it was the reason why the doctor had to die at the lake, when in reality, the two events are unrelated. And it sounds like the writers are saying that when the show finally ends for good then they’ll reveal the Doctor’s real name. I hope not though. I like the idea of having it stay a mystery.
Edit: And if Kovarian is still alive, I wonder if she’ll remember the Silence’s betrayal and turn on them.
My only nitpick is the Tesselector. It was so obviously robotic in speech and movement in Let’s Kill Hitler.
In the Impossible Astronaut the Tesselector made small talk, drank wine etc. with Amy, River, and Rory. There was nothing robotic about it at all.
I guess the writers wrote themselves into a corner and had to cheat a bit.
Presumably the Doctor can drive a Doctor Tesselector better than other people could.
