A relative has given me an interesting document in hopes I can learn its value (if any). It’s a certificate of thanks from the US Department of the Navy for the loan of binoculars under the “Eyes for the Navy” program for use during the First World War.
I was able to find an online image of the same document (though obviously sent to a different person). The one I have is in excellent condition, in a large envelope marked “Navy Department Assistant Secretary’s Office Washington”.
An important question is whether the signature at the bottom - “Franklin D Roosevelt” - is original or facsimile. Anyone know how this can be determined?
