Does a USB to TV converter exist?

My digital camera is a year old and doesn’t have a way to view the pictures on a television, unlike some digital cameras I’ve seen. It does have a USB port to transfer the pictures onto a computer. After asking around, there is apparentley no easy way to view my pictures on a tv set. So why don’t they make a converter cable that goes from USB to the AV cables that plug into a television?

Well the USB port on your camera is designed to send a digital file, usually a .jpg, to your PC where it’s stored on the drive. Then you use an application program to convert the file data to a form that can be displayed on the monitor.

The video inputs on the TV expect to see realtime TV data, not a digital file.

You might ask why you can’t hear anything if you hold a cassette tape up to your ear. Different kinds of data.

Consider buying a new camera if viewing the photos on a TV is that important.

I love my camera. It came with 2 cables. USB to transfer pics to computer, and another one which lets you plug into TV and view your pics on screen.

No. This could require some fairly fundamental digital/analog conversion which is typically done at the camera end. If this feature does not come built into your camera you’re pretty much SOL on the direct display front.

This standalone device will do exactly what you want and reads the card directly. It’s around $ 60.00
