The way they ended with Fred’s story pretty much soured the series for me. I’ve never been able to rewatch the series knowing how it ends for her. Her character arc the one bright spot in the show for me. Then they ruined it. We met her in such tragic circumstances and she had a tough time adjusting to her freedom. She was so happy and finally fulfilled running that lab.
Somewhat off-topic, but I’ve really been enjoying the podcast Dusted, which is covering each episode in both shows one at a time. They do some deep critical analysis, focusing on the script but also covering visual direction, production, even the philosophical issues that come up. Right now they’re in mid-season 1 of Angel and mid-season 4 of Buffy.
I’m definitely curious what they’ll have to say about Groo when he shows up.
