Does anybody know the name of this Elizabethan tune?

It’s the one being played by Elizabeth (Glenda Jackson) beginning a couple of seconds into this video.

A long shot, but I’ve had them hit before. Thanks for any info.

No idea but I really like it.

It appears the music for the series was primarily by David Munrow. I really like that sort of music. I may be buying some more CDs soon.
He also worked on Zardoz. How odd.

My Lady Carey’s Dompe

Sorry it took so long. I had to wait for my music professor wife to wake up.

I am as impressed as I am appreciative. Blessed art thou among Dopers, and blessed be the name of Our Lady Queen of Hamster

Heh, once I saw what you were asking about, I started humming the tune before I even clicked on the video. I’ve seen Elizabeth R a zillion times, the first time when I was five or six… whenever it was originally on Masterpiece Theatre. Glenda Jackson is sublime, isn’t she?

Alas, I didn’t know the name of the tune, so I wouldn’t have been helpful in the thread. Thanks, The Hamster King.

But if you need to know anything about the music from The Six Wives of Henry VIII, let me know – I still have the LP soundtrack!

I love both miniseries. That particular episode has one of my favorite performances of them all- Daphne Slater’s Mary. She’s at once terrifying and pitiable, not an easy thing to pull off; the actress is still alive but apparently hasn’t done anything in front of the camera in over 30 years.

Interesting variation.
