My guitar teacher, who is an encyclopedia of all matters rock music-related, swore that The Edge’s mom actually calls him The Edge.

At least that’s what Bono says. I think it’s off their Boston DVD–Bono introduces the band and says “Even his mother calls him The Edge.”
