Does anyone else hate contacts?

I’m back in contacts, after having had laser surgery two years ago to correct my vision. My left eye still sees fine; this week I finally made it to the opthamologist’s, who confirmed that my right eye has regressed. With a new contact and a pair of new glasses on the way, I can now reexperience the joy of reading distant street signs and billboards.

I’m less happy about this than I would expect. I hated contacts. My eyes were dry all the time. I had to wear waterproof mascara. I hated having to deal with the cleaners and cases and keeping up with saline drops all the time. I hated having to avoid air conditioning and worrying about flying grit on windy days.

Yet, in all of this, I seem to be alone. I’ve never met anyone else who dislikes contacts. Does anyone?

I don’t hate contacts, but I find that I wear them less and less as I get older. Some mornings, it just isn’t worth the bother, compared to tossing on one of my two pairs of glasses. Depends on if I’m having a “vanity” day or not.

Yeah…after 25 years of hard lenses, I was plenty happy to see them go when I had my eyes lasered. Don’t think I could go back to them again. I can’t tell you how many bottles of drops I went through as I got older.

I did miss them at times during the weeks prior to my surgery when I was wearing glasses. Given a choice, I’d probably still go with contacts over glasses, but I’d wear my glasses a heck of alot more.
