Does anyone else hate The State Theater in Maine?(terrible venues)

The radio person was babbling on about what sounded like a good concert, but I lost all interest when he uttered “at the state theater.” I’m never going there again, once was enough. It is the worst venue I’ve ever been to, primarily because the acustics are not good for music. Guster sounded ok, but the bands with electric guitars sounded terrible for all the echoing off the alcoves. Why more concerts aren’t slated at the other venue in Portland, I’ll never figure out. The other is nice, and I liked seeing The Offspring there. I really want to know if anyone else hates the State theater too, but feel free to complain about any venue

Damn it – I really want to be a voice of authority here, because I lived in Portland for ten years. Alas, I never went to see a show there. But I do remember when it was the premiere porno palace in the city (not that I ever went in there or anything - {cough - cough})

Which other venue were you talking about? The only big name shows I’ve seen in Portland were either at the Civiv Center, or at this club (which I’m straining to remember - possibly Millenium - ??) where I saw Seven Mary Three a couple of times and Twisted Roots a bunch of times.

And they used to have mid-level names playing at Stone Coast Brewery and (for the real old timers) The Tree, which doesn’t even exist anymore.

Ah, memory lane. Ya know, in a weird way, I really miss Portland.
