It will soon be the 50th of my college graduation. For several years, two of my friends and roomies have mentioned that a picture of them appeared in a newspaper article about nude beaches on Cape Cod. They were at the beach in 1974, so I would expect the article appeared (if it actually did) in 1974 or 1975. The only reason they know about it is that a co-worker recognized one of them and mentioned it to him a couple days after that issue of the paper came out. I know little else.
Their names are not mentioned in the article or picture caption…they appear only in the associated picture(s). We do not know if it was The Globe or The Herald. (I guess it could have been some other paper, but they seem to think it was one of the majors.)
To view the Globe archives, I need to subscribe to a service or start a free trial of some sort. But I can see that there are articles on nude beaches on the Cape from 1974 and 1975 without a subscription. I don’t know if The Herald has something similar.
I basically am just trying to find out if there are photos/articles that would make it worthwhile for me to subscribe, or give up personal information to try a free trial. If someone can say, “Yeah, there’s a picture from 1974 with a short dark-haired college-age guy and a taller blonde-haired guy with a mustache!”, I’d fork over the subscription cost to get access in a minute. Again, my goal isn’t to bypass the subscription service altogether. I just want to know if I can concentrate time and money on one paper or the other.
