I missed the live performance of the Australian Open final between Roger Federer and Marcos B., and I read that Roger was very emotional during the trophy presentation ceremony. I really want to see that clip but the only replays on T.V. skip over the ceremony. Does anyone know if there’s a clip on the internet of this?
No clip, but here’s a photo from this morning’s (Monday’s) *Sydney Morning Herald * showing him looking fairly emotional.
Federer merrily chatted along thanking his opponent and his opponents team, and the sponsors and his own team and then said, “I hope you know how much this means to me,” before beginning to wipe away tears. I don’t think he was dry eyed again. He enthusiastically hugged his idol Rod Laver and I suspect Laver’s presence had much to do with Federer’s reaction. Laver himself seemed surprised.
