Wayyy up here in Indiana, luminarios are a Christmas custom. The Boy Scouts sell the kits. A smallish paper grocery bag with the top folded into a cuff, a cup or so of sand poured into each bag, and a plumber’s candle. Many a homeowner has suffered frostbite on Christmas Eve setting them out. You line the driveway or the sidewalk to your door, “to show the Christ Child the way.”
