Does anyone know anything about Polly Gasoline?

It seems like places that sell automobile memorabilia often have pumps and metal signs and what have you for “Polly Gasoline,” like the stuff seen it this google images link.

I have tried researching the actual company, and have only found stuff for sale. What can you tell me about Polly? They must have been in California at least, because google images shows some kind of historic sign installed in Barstow.

Thanks.

All I’ve been able to find out is that Polly Gas was a brand of the Wilshire Oil Company of Texas.

Polly Oil was acquired in 1950 by Wilshire Oil of California, a subsidiary of Texas-based Wilshire Oil. They apparently kept the name for a little while, then dropped it. Wilshire sold their California operation to Gulf Oil in 1966. Wilshire Oil of Texas is still in business, apparently, as the downtrodden Wilshire Enterprises (mostly active in real estate, they have 8 employees still working in oil and gas exploration).

Polly Oil of California may have been related to Polly Oil of Wisconsin, founded in 1923 by Byron Paulley, and apparently now doing much-reduced business as Quality Petroleum.
