When I was studying in China two summers ago, our teacher showed us a Chinese film that seemed to be made in the 2000s. It was about three judges employed by the Chinese government who went from town to town in the impoverished countryside to arbitrate local disputes. One of the judges was an old widow, another was an old man, and another was a young man who gets married during the film.
In one scene that really stuck with me, they’re walking by a cliff when the old male judge remarks that when he was doing this job decades ago his friend slipped and fell down the cliff.
I’ve been wanting to see this movie again for a while, and a google search is turning up nothing. Does anyone know what movie I’m talking about?
