Does anyone know this song?

I didn’t feel this one was heady enough for GQ, so here we are…

I have a compy tape of folk songs. It’s in pretty bad shape, but there’s one song that I rather like but I don’t know the title or the artist. It goes something like:

I met my love near <dunno> pier/ beneath the beacon standing/all the love I felt for her/ it passed all understanding/ took her sailing on the river/flow, sweet river flow.

and so on. Anyone know it?

I love Google. And have always enjoyed Ewan MacColl

Thank you. I’m listening to it now… so beautiful. In the version I have on tape, it’s sung by a woman. I like this one better.
