Does anyone know what this book is called?

We read it in primary school, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was called. Basically, a girl gets a notebook or something like that from somewhere, and she writes a description of a house in it; when she sleeps, she dreams she’s in the place. At some point, this boy also starts appearing there; he’s in a wheelchair. The girl gets annoyed with the boy, and writes more in the notebook adding large stones (with I think an eye) which keep watch on the house very omniously so that the boy can’t get out. Eventually she changes her mind, and writes in a exercise machine that the boy uses to build up his legs to the point where both of them can escape from the house and the watching stones.

Anyone recognise it? I may be pretty wrong on some of the details.

Marianne Dreams, I believe. Never read the book, but I did see the movie based on it (for future reference, Cafe Society is usually best for the “what is this song/movie/book” threads)

Paperhouse

Pretty good movie. A shame it’s Charlotte Burke’s only movie. She had a lot of potential.

Ta, guys/girls, that’s the one! And Cat Fight, thanks for the tip, i’ll remember that next time

And I’ll remember that not everyone is privileged enough to be a member of the imdb pro elite.

I just read that book! It was creepy and very good. Glad someone else remembered the title though, because I didn’t.
