Does ANYONE like their job?

Another job-lover here. I get to do a lot of writing and research in legal matters, which I enjoy. I get involved within the employer’s organization, giving internal legal advice on complex problems. I get to go to court now and then, always on an interesting file. (Appellate advocacy - don’t have the skill set for trial work, and that’s not what the employer wants from me anyway.) And, every now and then, I get a major case that I know will be reported in the law reports, which is an additional incentive to do a good job.

(As others have commented, a common theme to most of the job-lovers seems to be the creative aspect, especially a writing component.)

For all of those folks who posted to this thread to say you like/dislike your job, could you PLEASE elaborate and give an idea of what you do??? Thankyoo!!

Having gotten that off my chest, I ABSOFRICKINLUTELY love my job!! After some years in academia, I got recruited by an online friend right into a job as a senior technical writer for a major software company in the Bay Area. As a computer geek writer, I can’t think of a better job; I get to interact with other technical writers (believe me, this is a crazy bunch!) and engineers all day. I get my own screaming-fast PC (I can run 12 applications at once and the thing doesn’t even slow down; not to mention a great 'net connection) and my very own Sun Sparc5 in my cube. I get to use a mind-blowingly great application for writing huge honker manuals (Adobe FrameMaker: does auto indexing, table of contents, instant re-organizing of book chapters, flexible cross-referencing in multiple formats, etc. etc. and makes Word look like Windows NotePad) and I realize I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to take this job, but I won’t kid you. I know I work hard and when deadlines approach, we’re often in there cranking text into the wee hours… but I just LOVE what I do!! I can’t believe I get paid for it, too (well, even)!!
