Does anyone other than me hate tabbed browsing?

The pages opening in the background is one of my favorite reasons for loving tabbed browsing of Firefox.

Ok. Like I said, I already knew about this extention, but I hadn’t downloaded it. Thanks to this thread, I finally did.

I’m a convert! It isn’t a whole new set of conventions to learn. Instead, everything works almost exactly the way I think it ought to work intuitively! Granted, if I hadn’t gotten used to tabbed browsing first, I would have been bewildered by the options, because I wouldn’t have known yet what I expected the tabs to do, but as it is, it took literally seconds (ok, a few hundred seconds) to set up the options just the way it makes sense to me.

I feel as if I’ve been browsing in darkness, and suddenly there is light! I want to spread the word. Come! Join us! Let us link webpages and join together in singing URL 167.206.76.23! (Stay away from those people with the mouse gestures, though. They’re a little too enthusiastic. I suppose its possible the Web comes to them that way, but it looks like mumbo jumbo to me.)

I downloaded Firefox last Friday and finally got the chance to install it last night. I am loving the tabbed browsing. Otherwise it doesn’t seem much different but I really, really, really like the tabs.

Tabs are heaven if you regularly need to reference multiple sites all at once, e.g. for those who don’t know, you can bookmark an entire tab collection.

Example, “Crap, I’ve got to leave the computer and I’ve just opened 57 really interesting threads that I’d love to read later click all done!”

I find it invaluable for computing documentation and support boards, e.g. I can bookmark at once all sites dealing with Linux hardware compatablilty instead of having to open them all one-by-one to find what I’m looking for.

I’m a Safari user (formerly a netscape user) and I love tabbed browsing… ESPECIALLY in OSX. I hate the dock. I do love Expose, but who needs it when you’ve got tabs?

It took me like, ten minutes to get used to tabbed browsing. Maybe Roland is just a little… slower… than we tab users.

Of course I’m kidding, Roland. We just surf differently. What’s with all the hating?

I’m an Opera user.

I don’t actually use the tabs, per se, but I do use the window bar on the left corner of the screen. It’s more convient to me than tabs.

By the way, is there a quick keystroke to switch between pages? Like Alt+Tab, only for pages?
