Does anyone remember this news story from a while back? Any updates?

A distant part of my brain tells me there was a news story many years ago (late 80s / early 90s?) about a businessman from somewhere in Ontario. He murdered his business partner (or maybe it was a client) and stole his ID and became the dead man’s identity. To escape the law, he fled to England with his teenage daughter in tow. It was in England that the cops found the man and his daughter, who have been posing as man and wife for many years, and the man was put on trial for the murder. The media, being the purient entity it can often be, started wondering aloud about the daughter’s children - whose were they? There were a lot of strong rumours that they were fathered by her “husband” (ie her father) as she was never seen dating (why would she? She was being presented as being married), but the daughter basically gave a “never you mind” as the paternity of the children was not germane to the case at all and, last I heard, it remained a mystery.

Have there been any updates to the story? What happened to the man? Daughter? Children? Was the paternity ever discovered?

I’d search on it, but having forgotten the names of the people involved makes it much more difficult. I know it is not beyond the abilities of this place, though, not by a long shot.

It took a bit of googling, but you remembered your facts well. I believe you’re looking for Albert Johnson Walker of Paris, Ontario. The Wikipedia article says the paternity of the children was never ascertained. The only fact that you got wrong was that the murder took place in England, not Ontario.
