Does Chevy still make Geo cars?

Like the Metro, Prizm, etc? i haven’t seen any new metros anymore.

Is the Aveo supposed to be the new Geo Metro?

Cars? No. Trucks? Yes.

The Chevrolet Tracker.

After 2000 the Geo nameplate was fused into Chevy. The co-branded versions of Suzukis and Toyotas that used to be sold under the Geo nameplate were redenominated as Chevys until such time as the respective models were redesigned or phased out as part of the normal course of business, at which time they’ve been replaced by designs from other GM divisions, including the internationals (as have been some homegrown Chevy names – the 2004 Malibu is based on a SAAB platform)

What are you saying, that Geo type cars are still sold just under the chevy name instead of Geo? That would explain why there are no more Geo metros but there are Chevy Aveos.

My first car was a 95 Geo Metro. My second car was a 99 Chevy Metro.

The Geo nameplate has been gone for a while. The individual cars all had counterparts from other manufacturers, and some persisted into the Chevy lineup for quite a while.

  1. Metro (Suzuki Swift) - Retained for a while as a Chevy, but now replaced by the Daewoo-built Aveo.

  2. Tracker (Suzuki Sidekick) - Still exists.

  3. Storm (Isuzu Impulse) - Completely dead; Isuzu has pulled out of the US passenger car market.

  4. Prizm (Toyota Corolla) - No longer has a Chevy counterpart.

Geo was sold in Canada, but we never got the Prizm. I’d rented one in San Francisco, and I always wondered what it started out as. Thanks!

Suzuki and GM are selling another small car as the Suzuki Swift+ / Chevy Aveo, in 3- and 5-door sedan and hatch versions, to compete with such cars as the Toyota Echo.
