I am having a colonoscopy screening next Mon.
Does white miso soup count as a “clear liquid” ? It sure would beat chicken broth!

I’d probably call it cloudy, unless you put it through a fine strainer to make it transparent (though not colorless).
I’d say no. If chicken broth is okay, you could have bonito broth, but the miso part is very much a solid.
Since you’re looking for advice, I’ll move this to our advice forum, IMHO.

Agreed. The miso itself is too substantial.
According to the Mayo clinic’s page about clear liquids, soups are limited to bouillons and consommes.
You could make a soup using the same dashi, but using soy sauce (and perhaps mirin and sake) instead of miso.
Living in Hawaii, we are told that miso soup is consider non-clear because of the miso.
Interesting. I don’t like miso soup myself, but that’s useful data to have on hand.
The particles are probably small enough that the prep would take care, but the prep is unpleasant enough that I wouldn’t risk having to do it all over again!
