Does political passion have the opposite effect?

I’d start this in great debates but I rarely venture in there and have nightmares about being told to go home, little IMHO girl.

So, I’ll just ask…does political passion turn you off?

For my part, I have friends that are so passionate that I honestly feel their message gets lost between the tirades and (what I feel is close to) screaming.

I’m not a hugely political person…at this point in my life, I’m open to anything. But, what resonates with me is how turned OFF I get at being screamed at or talked down as it relates to politics.

What say you? (quietly, please)

Well, I wouldn’t say that “political passion” turns me off, but I’m not terribly fond of being yelled at or personally insulted during a debate-

But I’ve been fortunate enough to have engaged in numerous calm and enjoyable political discussions- so my experiences have it made it easier for me to see rudeness and passionate debate as two separate things.

I’m interested in politics, but not passionate about any particular party or politician.

I find some of the posts on this board, particularly in GD or The Pit, to be quite strange in the degree of their passion. Hatred is almost too mild a term! Do these guys have a real life?

To answer your question, I’m not particularly turned off by the hyperbole and frequently I’ll post a response. But I’m not gonna’ lose any sleep over political threads.
