I’ll buy the story that Putin is on Death’s threshold when it is presented in a publication for which the breaking headlines aren’t “Wedding death tragedy in Emmerdale confirmed as Charity predicts dark outcome?” and “Tyrone cheats on Fiz again after she exits Coronation Street?”
I wish I’d noticed this thread back in May, I saw that source being used another thread at the time and had seen the raw interview with Sky News they used as their source. It’s even worse than ain’t much; you literally couldn’t find a less reliable source of information. It’s based on an interview with Major General Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. It is literally his job to spread disinformation, but it got quoted a lot in the media at the time. His answer to a question quoted in the Newsweek article is amusing given this context:
He added that Putin has “cancer and other illnesses,” and when Sky News asked if he was merely spreading propaganda, Budanov replied, “It’s my job, it’s my work, if not me, who will know this?”
He also claimed to know when the war would end and that a coup against Putin was already in the works:
He added that the fighting in Ukraine will be finished by the end of the year, and Russia’s defeat in Ukraine “will eventually lead to the change of leadership of the Russian Federation. This process has already been launched and they are moving into that way.”
Nothing really new here. A link in the article says that people are assessing Putin’s health from video of his meeting with Kim Jong Un. Putin hasn’t left any contingency plans, body double may be used (are being used) to keep up the charade of a functional Putin, etc. But over a year after this thread started, people are still/again talking about Putin’s health.
Well, I can’t believe that the state of the war in Ukraine is doing his digestive system any good. Long-term stress can have serious deleterious effects on health. Beyond that, who knows?
Shocker, Budanov was 0 out of 3 in his predictions. The closest he got was on the coup, which wasn’t actually in the works at the time he claimed it was, and didn’t lead to a change of leadership.
