Does salt water increase tanning rates?

I wanted to know, does salt water in any way increase the rate at which you tan? Somehow you tend to tan more at the beaches than anywhere else with sun. Is this due to the salt water?

(I mean tanning of the skin, not leather)

The sand and the water reflect the sun, probably more than most freshwater locales.

Have you compared the “time to tan” on a saltwater beach (ocean) vs. a freshwater beach (lake) vs no water? I highly doubt it’s the salt water; it’s the general reflection which means you get a double dose of UV light.

People tan quite quickly on glaciers and ice fields, too, where all the water is frozen.

Yep - when you’re at the beach, you’re basically sitting on top of a mirror and next to another, even more reflective mirror. This does not happen when you’re at your local park.
