That’s funnier than most people realize.

Dr. Matrix points out that in Jesus’ warning against the hypocrisy of straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel (Matt. 23:24), the Aramaic words for gnat and camel are respectively galma and gamla.

• There was a group of Pharisees who did strain their wine through cloth to filter out gnats (so the book claims).
• A gnat and a camel are both ritually impure (trayf) and prohibited.
