Do the prefixes for each day of the week have any significant meaning? Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Satur, Sun --WTF???
Yes. Most are derived from the names of gods, often Norse (e.g. Thor’s Day). A good dictionary would help you out here.
Try this.
IIRC:
Monday = Moon Day
Tuesday = Tieu’s Day (Norse God)
Wednesday = Wotan’s Day (Wotan = Odin)
Thursday = Thor
Friday = Frigg
Saturday = Saturn
Sunday = should be obvious
Mon - Moon
Tues - Tiw (Norse god)
Wed - Wodin (Norse god)
Thur - Thor
Fri - Fria (Norse goddess)
Satur - Saturn
Sun - Sun
Here’s another source. Friday seems to be the most contentious one because Frigg and Freya were different goddesses. The site I’ve linked to suggests that Freya is more likely.
