Dog Is Very Sick, Got into Meds

He looks like a loving dog. Glad to know revenge is his. Can we get another pic?
Perhaps Wally, you and other dog owners might benefit from starting a thread on how to doggie-proof one’s home? If he got into vitamins this time, he might get into something more dangerous next time.

Yay Wally! Thanks for the pic.

On the subject of dogs eating weird stuff, I’m no expert, being mostly a cat person who still has room in her heart for dogs. But it seems to me that we cat people say, “cats is weird.” Isn’t the dog corollary something like “dogs eat weird stuff”?

What a silly boy. Glad he’s better!

PSA: Be very careful with gum containing zylitol, which is a sugar substitute that is safe for humans but very toxic to dogs. Our friends’ dog, Nellie, got into her purse and chewed a whole pack of gum (Trident, I believe) that happened to contain zylitol. She was a very sick girl.

My dog, chewed open a bottle of melatonin. I called the Poison control center to ask what they thought. They asked me if my dog was sleeping a lot and/or acting goofy. I said “how would I tell!” she slept all the time and was pretty goofy anyway.

She was fine, I think she just liked chewing on plastic and didn’t swallow any pills.

Ant baits like this smell like peanut butter. If you use them, be very very sure to put them in a place where there’s no way a dog can get to them. It’s not the active ingredient that’s the problem (unless you have a tiny dog who eats a lot of them), it’s the sharp plastic they’re made of, which can puncture the intestines.
