Dog the bounty hunter. You disapoint me sir.

I thought NAACP had a funeral for the word nigger saying it wasn’t offensive or something like that? How come its such an issue then. I’m lost. :frowning:

Actually, they held the funeral precisely because the word IS offensive. I’m not sure where you got the idea that they thought it wasn’t.

The original Hippies did a similar thing back in the 60s - they had a “funeral” for the concept of “Hippie,” claiming that it had been diluted and sold-out and that it no longer existed.

A lot of good that did. People still use that word all the time. Except the true hippies of the 60s would probably retch if they saw the people that are referred to as “hippies” today - lame-ass, white-guy-with-dreadlocks, Trustafarian, jam-band-listening, frat-party attending doofuses. The only thing that makes them “hippies” is that they have a tapestry in their dorm room and they smoke a lot of weed.

But I’m living in a college town, so the hippies elsewhere are probably much different.

Sorry for the hijack.

So I saw him apologize publicly on some talk show last night. What struck me is we seem to want celebrities to do this. This wasn’t an accidental outrage or a slip of the tongue, this recorded phone message was proof of his way of thinking. He is only really sorry he got caught. He doesn’t owe me or anyone else an apology, he also doesn’t deserve a TV show. At least the last part is working out nicely.

Hmmmm, which came first – the PR move to salvage one’s image or the demand for a PR move to salvage one’s image?
