Doesn’t matter if the Circuit Court of Appeals says it’s okay to publish; Trump’s lawyers will seek a writ of certiorari to the Supreme Court and the clock will run out.
Jack Smith resigned his post.

The special counsel departed after his efforts in the courtroom were essentially rendered moot by Mr. Trump’s political victory in November. Under a Justice Department policy prohibiting the pursuit of prosecutions against a sitting president, Mr. Smith was compelled to drop both of the cases he had filed against Mr. Trump in 2023 — one in Florida, accusing him of mishandling a trove of classified documents, and the other in Washington, on charges of plotting to overturn the 2020 election.
Mr. Smith’s final week was marked by one more legal setback at the hands of Judge Aileen M. Cannon, the Trump-appointed jurist presiding over the Florida documents case: She temporarily blocked public release of his final report until at least Monday.
I hope he and his family will be ok.
I have a guest room in my house here he and his family are welcome to use.
Hell, I’d give him and his family my whole house and move my carcass in with friends, if it would be helpful to him. But unlike you, it wouldn’t, because I still live in the States.
That said, he’s a very smart man and I’m sure he has made contingency plans. I just hope they’re enough.
I wonder if he could go back to his old job at The Hague.
Perhaps Interpol is hiring. Or Scotland Yard.
Wherever he goes, I hope it is far enough. I have some serious concerns that it won’t be.
There’s no place on earth that is safe for him or his family. Trump has the power and friends to reach anyone.
This would be the best move. I’m sure he would be welcomed back.
Here is the report
thank you!
Download it in the next few days; it may become contraband at noon on January 20th.
Good point. Download and mail to everyone you know.
Or not email; the pdf copy I downloaded was 27.4 MB.
Internet is forever. It won’t disappear.
Don’t want to derail thread … but using the Chrome browser, Windows 11 on a laptop and having Adobe Acrobat Pro installed:
- Open the DocumentCloud icon at lower left of image (the image of pg 1 of the report on MSNBC’s site).
- Once you’re viewing the report in DocumentCloud, click “Download File” at upper right
- A new browser window should open displaying a PDF of the report. Adobe Acrobat is actually displaying the report via Chrome. From here, you can click on the little Download icon at upper right.
- A copy of the file should appear in your laptop’s Downloads folder (unless you specify it to save elsewhere.
The resulting file is about 8 MB.
