Fuerunt facta non verba – there were deeds, not words.
excellent! always good to go with the latin.
jack smith has entered the courtroom. let the staring begin!
judge has entered the court room and has said “mr trump”. his lawyer called him president trump.
trump during the wait for the judge was fascinated by the pretrial services report. this will list the conditions of what the defendant can and can’t do.
He’d read a fishing magazine were he presented with one, rather than make eye contact with Smith.
Well, he’d hold it up in front of his face and look at the pictures, anyway.
A plea of “not guilty” to all charges. No surprise.
florida is a big fishing state.
interesting that during the arraignment, the judge said that he has the right to remain silent, that anything he says to law enforcement can be used against him. i find the stress of law enforcement interesting.
the judge also said that “you may be held if you violate your terms of release” also mentions that he can not talk to any of the witnesses in this case except through or with his lawyer.
they are really focused on witness tampering.
oooh, he was warned about jury tampering. and that should he commit a crime during his release and jury tampering is a crime.
very interesting.
And/or leaving zero wiggle room when he (of course) violates the terms.
And jury tampering.
Next hearing apparently is going to be on August 28.
Me, too. Does this mean his blatherings on Truth Social and in public can’t be held against him?
His lawyers are as crooked as he is. How is this supposed to stop witness tampering?
Shouldn’t the DOJ’s lawyers be present if Trump speaks to a witness?
trial date will be set on aug 28th.
welcome to the rocket!
they have left the courtroom. the prosecution has 7 days to give an estimate date for trial, and the defence has 5 days after that to give their timing.
prosecution has to give timing on giving over discovery. team trump already has the jan 6 committee discovery. only the smith team investigation will be new.
I took that to mean his Secret Service escorts.
Motorcade is leaving the courthouse. Trump apparently may speak when he gets to the airport.
What’s the over/under on him violating his no talking about the case condition?
Trump is at the airport, getting out of is car. And he looks pissed!
He just needs to be burped, changed and put down for a nap is all.

What’s the over/under on him violating his no talking about the case condition?
Oh, I think he can talk about the case all he wants. No conditions there set by the judge. She just warned him that anything he says can be used against him.
He can argle bargle about the unfair corrupt DOJ, and the horrible biased judge and blah blah Biden blah laptop all he wants.
If he threatens the jury or witnesses though… bang, new charges will appear against him.
I bet his lawyers have his jaws (metaphorically) wired shut at this point.
Just saw Trump’s airport remarks. He went on about how this whole thing is political. Paraphrased, “I’ve got a great lead in the polls over Biden, and so they want to persecute me by prosecuting me.”
I guess we couldn’t expect anything else, but maybe something about his great legal team, and he will beat these charges with their help. Not the same old tired “it’s all political” refrain.

Not the same old tired “it’s all political” refrain.
That’s called ‘staying on message.’
