I assume what Johnson wants to blur is the thousands of hours of security footage from the Capitol from Jan 6. The Sedition Hunters are primarily using social media that these idiots posted of themselves (and others), right?
The fact that large numbers of seditionists have been identified by public viewing of available recordings indicates that more seditionists would inevitably be identified by public viewing of additional recordings when they become available… unless someone (e.g. Trump’s Little Johnson, aka Mushroom Mike if you’re on a first-name basis) were to blur the faces on the video, thereby hindering the apprehension of the concealed perpetrators. The process of hindering the apprehension of criminals is technically known as becoming an accessory after the fact.

I think you’re right. At least some of this is previously unreleased footage. DOJ has it, but they’re not releasing it (and I think there are good reasons for that).
Once the footage is in the public domain, Sedition Hunters can review it for new faces and then match it up with what is already in the social media stew to identify insurrectionists. But not if the faces of the insurrectionists are blurred, of course.
