Spain certainly is a huge logistic nexus for drugs. But there is no such thing as “Spanish euro currency” - the article refers to bills, which are the same throughout Europe. A cursory examination of my coin pouch (coins, unlike bills, are different for each country) shows that I have 10 coins which are the Spanish version, 3 French ones, 3 from Germany and 1 from Portugal.
The study in the article analyzed 100 notes. I strongly doubt that’s a statistically significant sample, and depending on where they got them, the numbers may be very different from other locations (iow, if you gave me 100 notes from the cash drawers of an Ibiza disco, I’d expect them to test positive for any drug that can be snorted and perhaps a couple the Guardia Civil hasn’t heard of yet).
As to alternatives to insufflation, coke has been purposely sprinkled on vaginas for effects that I cannot account for (numbing?). Similarly, many men use the powder to desensitive their dicks so it takes them longer to come. Richard Pryor said, apparently, “even my dick has cocaine Jones,” and his girlfriend broke up partly for “a buildup of cocaine residue around the cervix and in the vagina.” (Which would’ve been a twofer, I guess, if she was into the first type of use).
In any event, rather than bills and pens and genitals, this is still the best way.

) has been in the American drug scene for decades, and here’s the low-down according to her:
She’s used bits of clear straws, dollars in any denomination, and different bits of paper. Many people have mentioned Bic pen pieces, but those are used for smoking heroin (they’re called tooters), not for cocaine use–perhaps people are getting them confused. The jury’s out on which method of consumption is better, but my friend prefers straws, as paper is porous and she’ll lose some just that way.
As far as the crack vs. coke debate: she says crack is almost always cheaper than cocaine, but there are tons of variables to the calculations, including where (even when) you score, and the potency and availability of either drug. Generally, middle-class people are snorting blow and the lower classes are using crack. A couple of people have mentioned meth, but meth is unrelated to crack and cocaine because it is an amphetamine-based drug.
