Dollhouse 10/2 Belle Chose

And the whole scene with Ballard interrogating the creepy serial killer guy, saying he was pushing away real people for fake people he could control and the focus during that part going to Adelle staring at the screen.

I’m pretty sure he did - and I’m pretty sure Adele was telling him to.
Paul: Do you think he’ll ever recover?
Adele: Wouldn’t it be nice if he didn’t?

I thought they were going to use their technology to repair or replace the “dark areas” in Terry’s MRI. The parts of the brain that control empathy and compassion. That would be an awesome use of the tech.

I have a feeling they just wiped him - but it could be anything to do with the technology.

You mean other than the fact that Dollhouse participants go in willingly, rather than being abducted against their will? :dubious:

Since they have the ability to implant specific memories shouldn’t they be able to read the memories that are in there? In other words, why was interrogating him necessary to find out where the women were?

Or why not tweak him so he’d have the memories but be cooperative under interrogation?

And they surely give Topher a lot of leewa considering he screws something up in pretty much every episode.

I’ve enjoyed the show but apparently it is wearing itself out with me.

I have thought the same thing. The writers are getting lazy, since they have to rely on the tech going haywire each week.

The only way they can “read” memories is by implanting them into another person. Well, into a Doll–imprinting an unwiped human would do some damage.

“Tweaking” just introduces more variables. They were in a hurry & might have gotten good results if Ballard had been permitted to continue with the interrogation. But the killer’s uncle thought he could do better by kidnaping “him” from the Dollhouse.

I’m still far from worn out.

An empty vessel, if you wish

With the Taminator turning up in a few weeks, I’ll still be watching.

I did say “other than the kidnappings”.

How many times now has a client been assaulted during an assignment? I doubt the college professor is going to become a repeat customer.

Yeah. When Echo stabbed her client, my first thought was that somehow Topher had implanted *all *the field actives with Terry’s mind, and I said, “Wow, they’re going to be giving a lot of refunds this week!”

Not only was it silly to ignore the possibility of using the tech to mine information or make a cooperative version of Terry, I was surprised they were all so tense about the interrogation and whether it was a good plan to have Ballard go in, rather than the uncle. Just have Ballard take a shot, then if it doesn’t work, start again with a brand new implant - you could do it dozens of times!

As for Victor’s GPS, I thought that might be a significant point. Note that Dr. Saunders ordered the removal and then “forgot” to put it back in before taking off. Dr. Saunders who isn’t exactly friendly to the Dollhouse anymore, and might well be all for Doll liberation. (Am I a bad person for hoping Acker’s new show fails quickly so we can have her back?)

Much better this week than last, though I was distinctly disappointed when it cut back to Echo after tracing Victor for a while. I’d almost forgot that the show was supposed to be about Echo…

Ah, yes. The Holodeck Syndrome.

I’m wondering how he became a client in the first place. Professors don’t exactly make Dollhouse level salaries…

Maybe the professor comes from a rich family. I got the feeling the man went into teaching with the image in his head that he’ll become the suave “cool” professor every student will love. That dumb joke, that only Echo laughed at, showed that he desperately wants to be that guy. When he couldn’t get that hot passionate student romance by himself, something he’s always been fantasising about, he had to buy it. I think this was the most depressing assignment so far.
PS. The guy drove a Volvo! How more cliché can you get?

Next time you forget, watch the opening credits. That’ll remind you real fast.

Someone should make a parody version of the credits, with all the other names replaced so it’s just Eliza Dushku’s name over and over.

I just went through a Dollhouse marathon the last couple of weeks and am finally caught up. I agree with y’all; these episodes are decidedly episodic, and not the good kind of episodic. I want to see the apocalyptic world of “Epitaph One”, dammit! Or at least move the show in that direction. Why is it that the unaired episode about a possible future in which the tech has run amok is better than anything else this show has done? Just make the show about THAT!

We really don’t need another Pretender/Alias/Quantum Leap clone.

I really wish they would just let this be an ensemble show, and slow down with the whole “Echo is number one” thing. Joss’s secondary characters are always more interesting than the main one(s) and Eliza doesn’t exactly have the acting ability to carry the show all on her own.
