Cats are fairly undomesticated because what they do naturally is pretty much already what we wanted them to do for us. They were going to be eating small rodents no matter what we thought of it. The only real change that needed to happen was for us to get used to each other being around and not panic over it.
Well, also cats have subtly guided human technological progress toward the invention of the laser pointer.
I wouldn’t call cats domesticated. It’s more that they adapted to a human environment.
