Domingo German throws a perfect game

I watched every out. It was a masterful performance. Not really a close play during the entire game. 24th perfect game in baseball history. 4th perfect game in Yankee history.

I think he got to three balls twice the entire game.

Is this the first perfect game that you’ve watched front-to-back live? If so, that must have been thrilling.

Wow. 11 - 0 is the highest-scoring perfect game ever. Usually the games are close because when one team pulls ahead far enough, the defensive players tend to relax.

This has to be the first time a no-hitter was thrown while wearing the number “0”.

I missed every pitch. What a nice surprise to wake up to.

I saw Coney and Wells games.

German has a lot of issues, but for one night at least he was perfect.

24 Perfect Games in MLB history. 4 by the Yanks now. Broke the tie with the White Sox.
First Yankee Perfecto on the Road.
First Dominican Pitcher to throw a Perfect Game.
First Pitcher wearing 0.
He needed 99 pitches.
One long fly ball to right would have been over the wall at Yankee Stadium.

The David Wells perfect game I was driving home and heard most of it on the radio. I caught the end on TV. David Cone’s I started watching some time after the start.

That was one of the issues he had to contend with. They batted around one inning so he had like a 23 minute delay in between innings. Later the A’s had a pitcher come out injured and there was another almost half hour delay. (I’ll assume he was actually injured and it wasn’t gamesmanship like I thought last nigh). It’s a struggle to keep loose on the bench. Cone had a 33 minute rain delay during his perfect game.

I saw a stat last night: 25% of all perfect games in MLB history were thrown by the two teams in last night’s game (4 by the Yankees, two by the A’s).

Incredible pitching performance. He will one day be forgiven for being a Yankee.

But he probably won’t be forgiven by all for his other off-field issues.

Didn’t know anything about him before this. It’s tiring to hear this same old story over and over. I hope half a season suspended got through to the guy. Maybe temporary suspensions aren’t enough to get the message out to everybody.

Here’s every out in 3 and a half minutes if you want to watch.

That grounder to first in the 5th inning needed a good play to get the out, but the rest were all routine.

It’s increasingly a rarity these days for a pitcher to record 27 outs in a game, regardless of how many baserunners he allows in between.

I thought so too. Rizzo is pretty dependable at first but even he could be forgiven if that got past him.

He’s so good defensively that is a routine play for him. For others not so much.

I wonder if any of the other perfect games were that pitchers first career complete game. German had only pitched into the 8th inning once before…last season in Oakland. 7.2 innings of shutout ball.

That will probably become more common going into the future. As so many starting pitchers don’t get a complete game in a full season now.

Here is a list of No-Hitters

I know a few pitchers have thrown no-hitters in their first game, but I’m pretty sure no one has thrown a perfecto in their first game.

He gave up 10 earned runs in his previous appearance.
