Donald Trump and the runup to the 2024 election

For what it’s worth, the existence of “owned-and-operated” stations muddies the water a bit, as each of the big four US broadcast networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox) actually own a handful of the stations in their networks (primarily in large cities). The rest of the affiliate stations in their networks are owned by other companies or individuals, and are independent entities from the parent networks.

But, your main point isn’t affected by that: as you note, CBS does not “have a license.”

Wasn’t Trump offered the chance to go on the same show?

Under normal rules in a Democracy . Not in a pseudo fascist trump state.

Yes he was. But being a giant chicken-shit coward he refused.

Because they might be mean.

And he still wants an apology from Lesley Stahl who interviewed him for the one in 2020 (the one where he stopped the interview and ran away in a tantrum).

Isn’t this about the fifth or sixth “greatest fraud in history” that has happened to Donald Trump? Man, that is some terrible luck right there! I wouldn’t want to follow a guy like that around. No matter what happens to him, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be the worst thing in history!

Thanks. I thought so, but I wasn’t sure.

“Nobody’s ever seen anything like it in the history or our country …”

And it’s happening at levels nobody’s ever seen.

“They know it, I know it, you know it, everybody knows it."

I think that running anti-Trump ads on adult websites is a hilarious and clever idea. If it tips the balance, it will be even funnier. Though obviously women look at porn as well ( as much as men?).

Outstanding, frightening article. It’s a valuable reminder that our country was capable of producing flawed but great men, principled people with magnificent instincts. I agree wholeheartedly with the author that no president has fallen further from the political ideal Washington established than Trump, a vile would-be despot.

And I likewise agree that we may well see the “would-be” evaporate should Trump be re-elected.

Less; on average women prefer written porn* over visual porn and men are the opposite. That said, there’s plenty of written porn on adult websites.

  • And written works in general, reading fiction is much more popular among women than men.

NYT reports that a group of porn producers is also getting into the act. (Gift link.)

I read the Slate story. Wally Nowinski, the head of the PAC that’s running the campaign comes off as a genuine professional political campaigner, not someone from the adult entertainment industry.

I read it, too, and agree with you. The porn producers’ project is a separate effort with a similar goal.

How bat shit crazy does a candidate have to be to where he can tell a fantastical story like kids coming home from school having had a sex change, and it isn’t even remarked upon? He tells it in front of his crowd, and they don’t even bat an eye. How crazy does a story have to be until it’s obvious to even the dullest MAGAt what a brain dead guy they’re invested in?

I don’t get it. HTF can this election even be close???

It can’t be and it isn’t, but that headline doesn’t get ratings, which is why every presidential race every four years is THE CLOSEST RACE WE’VE EVER SEEN, THE COUNTRY HAS NEVER BEEN THIS EVENLY DIVIDED BEFORE.

I believe she’ll win the popular vote handily. It’s the damned
EC that’s taking the fun out of it. I remember the period after the last election referred to as “The Great Unclenching”. This one will, God willing, be even greater.

Bob Woodward: Trump gave Putin covid testing machines for his personal use at the beginning of the pandemic
Trump: Fake news, this is the biggest hoax in the history of everything
Russia: Yeah, he gave us those

What, precisely, is Trump supposed to have sent to Putin and what evidence is there? How many/much? I keep seeing references to “tests” (as in the CNN story inked above) and “samples of test kits” (the Russian response) I also saw something on the boob tube referring to hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars worth of “Abbott machines” (Woodward). Calling them “kits” would leave the causal reader to think of the things you get at CVS. If they were expensive machines, why isn’t the media calling them that? Shouldn’t there be a government record somewhere with the exact items?
